The official line seems to be that the UK, France and USA is bombing Libya to establish military dominance and a no-fly zone. The thought is allegedly that this would prevent the current Gaddafi from massacring the rebel forces in Benghazi.
From another perspective, they have significant oil interests and are in a strategic location next to Egypt in Northern Africa. I don’t want to speculate too much, though.
How do we know what the rebel intentions are and who funds them they may end up worse than ghadaffi
ReplyDeletewe should have let them duke it out or put them out our selfs fastly
Im just curious why the liberals havent made an outcry on this, as they did with our retaliation of 9/11...
ReplyDeletei feel its all a big setup
ReplyDeletelybia was the most advanced state in the region so it cant be about the human rights and people there
its all about the oil ;_;
following
its just another disaster :(
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Keep up the good blogging it will eventually pay off!
ReplyDeleteMixed thoughts, oil, rebels (what are there intension's)
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how the americans can keep going to war, when will it be too much for the people?
ReplyDeleteI think it's just sad all around.
ReplyDeleteWhen is the good news coming? :(
ReplyDeleteSadly, we don't have any say in the wars. The president has a 30 day timeframe to do anything he wants with the military before he has to have congressional approval for a military occupation. Blah. Whatever. The flames of civil unrest are sweeping the globe.
ReplyDeleteWe're at war with three countries and they're all in the middle east... blood for oil, 'nuff said
ReplyDeleteThe Oil interest is a little transparent, although the dangerous situation did need to be dismantled. the US entered for a legitimate reason, I won't bother trying to consider all the 'other' reasons they did.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Following!
Mike.
They won't send in troops, but maybe relief supplies. Possibly arming the rebels through third parties. That's being a bit speculative, though. Either way, Libya now belongs to the people.
ReplyDeletei hate the fact that were starting a war in another country!!!
ReplyDeleteThings seem pretty bad there :/
ReplyDeleteI'm quite scared of whats to come. Plus the oil prices!
ReplyDeletei lost track of whats happening. all i know is that teh leaders of lybia will fall eventually and hopefully it'll set up a democratic nation where we can help modernize and westernize it.
ReplyDeleteTime for Gadaffi to go down, that's for damn sure.
ReplyDeleteFollowed.

Hope they can achieve true freedom.
ReplyDeletei hope the nato forces dont stop supporting the rebels. its a good thing, shows that democracy still count something!
ReplyDeleteWell, now that we have men putting their lives in danger, we need a specific outcome. Sadly, our president Obama won't say what it is, or even knows what it is.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know enough about the situation to comment, but I'm quite happy someone is stepping up to Gaddafi
ReplyDeleteit's really impossible to say with the "quality" of news we get here in the states...
ReplyDeletePresiden Obama is making us all look bad in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteObama? Obama =/= The UN. The UN declared the the no fly zone, France sent in planes, the US backed up those planes by taking out the AA installations that would have been used by Libya against allied pilots. So the US and UK spent about $100m to shoot some rockets off, not what I'd call a war. Libya has oil, but not enough to alter the allied supply. The rebels have been crying about not getting Allied support, now they got it.
ReplyDeleteNO matter what the US does there will be unhappy people. boo hoo Obama wont help the helpless, or boo hoo Obama got us in another "war." As long as he doesn't send in ground forces and get a bunch of people killed, really, what does it matter? The sooner the Libyan dilemma is solved the sooner the stock market will stabilize and the rest of the world will move on.
Unless you like paying an extra dollar or two for gas (unrest alters the markets more than a decrease in supply), I'd suggest you support the UN decision the help resolve the Libyan crisis ASAP, lest the country sink into civil war, destabilizing the region and the world economy for who knows how long.

not sure what to think. I feel like obama's right and gadaffi's going to be forced out one way or another... i just hope the people remember that they owe us one.
ReplyDeleteI think we should just stay out of Libya. Yay isolationism.
ReplyDeleteTHe west would make more money with quaddafi in power though and oil would be cheaper
ReplyDeleteThe Italians want their oil, which is why they dragged their heels so much
